Yes, I'm a little late with this one, but mummy says I'm the strangest baby because I have just been walking around all evening as though it were the most natural thing in the world and I could always do it. Must be something to do with Uncle Ed's genes.. he would never do something new in front of people until he was sure of himself either. |

I'm sorry I gave my mummy my germs and she's still ill while I'm bouncy as I ever was before.
I'm so sorry, that the other day when mummy had a coughing sneezing fit, I found her a tissue and handed it to her. She got all overwhelmed and hugged me. Easily impressed, my mum is. |

I have been for my MMR jab this morning and it's had a rare side effect for me. I am poorly poorly moglet and have been sick a lot and had diarrhoea a lot and all I want to do is sit on mummy's knee with my head on her shoulder. I am very brave though and don't cry very much at all.
Up until today I've been a very busy girl. I have started at a fantastic nursery where I am already a favourite with the staff and they have all the most amazing toys I could ever have dreamed of. And I've been getting to spend lots and lots of time with my Grandma and Grandpa, who are very very soft with me and love me as much as even Mummy does. Mummy has been very busy too. I don't have time to miss her while she's at work because the nursery ladies and my Gaag and Gack (Grandma and Grandpa to you) have kept me so very entertained, but the rest of the time she has been packing all our things away ready for our new house. She's been very tired too and not been on the computer all week except at work because she just wants to eay, play wtih me, then sleep most nights. |

I got post all of my very own this week and my bad mummy kept forgetting to tell Livejournal about it! Lovely zapruder did bring me a dressing-gown kimono thingy thing back from Japan and I am very very very cute in it. Mummy says just wait until I am big enough for it properly and she'll take a whole heap of cute pictures of me in it :D |

I have learned the subtle art of emotional blackmail. Oh yes.
This morning I was watching Come Outside with Pippin in it, and it was really good. Then it finished when I wasn't ready for it to so I cried like the world was ending. Of course mummy gave me big hugs and eventually I felt better.
But THEN I spotted two pieces of Aero in a wrapper on mummy's desk and so figured the best way to make sure I got some was to affect some sobs to remind mummy of how terribly upset I was, whilst pointing at the chocolate. It worked too. I don't know what she was laughing at though. |

Apparently Daddy lost his job today. Usually when Mummy and Daddy lose things it's because I have been playing with them, but I promise I didn't go near his job (what does a job look like anyway? Is it fun to play with?)
Anyway, Daddy seemed quite upset that he cam home early but I wasn't because he had a chocolate biscuit in his lunchbox that he let me have :)

I point at you! Hahaha! I do this because mummy tells me who or what I'm pointing at, but she does get tired of saying things sometimes. I have an obsession with all things DUCK and say it at any given opportunity. I have a new outfit which is yelloe and lime green and I grinned my head off at mummy when she was putting it on me, I love it. She says each to their own because she wouldn't be seen dead in it (silly mummy, it wouldn't even fit you so ner!). I also have a big tractor to ride on because I love watching tractors go past and making the farmers wave to me. ( Maybe I'll be a farmer when I grow up. One with DUCKS. ) |

Hello! I'm sorry I haven't got mummy to write in here for so long. I had a wonderful birthday last weekend, thanks to all of you who sent their best wishes. Mummy has added some new photos to my Fotopic (though she's not looked at them as much as looked back at the 'tiny Alex' ones and got all mushy about how much I've grown *sigh*
I am more of a little girl than a baby nowadays. I've grown a whole two teeth and a bit of hair, and I can walk if someone holds my hand to help me. I can change channels on the television all by myself, and I like to knock down towers of blocks and take jigsaws apart, though I'm not so good at putting them back together. I can even hold my own spoon to eat with (though mummy is too impatient to let me eat by myself and still helps so I don't make too much mess or take too long). I have grown-up girl shoes from Clarks, and my own savings account at Nationwide building society. I wave hello and goodbye to nearly everyone, but don't like to be parted from mummy and daddy for more than a couple of minutes. I also bounce when mummy says 'bounce bounce bounce', flap my arms like I'm flying when she says 'flap flap flap' and shake my head vigorously and giggle when she says 'no no no' (and when she wants me to come to her and stop messing with something I shouldn't!).
I made mummy cry at weekend when she rang home from work because when daddy gave me the phone for mummy to say hello I said 'Hiya mama!'
The Health Visitor made her cry as well by telling her off for not taking me to baby and toddler groups, and strongly suggesting that we go to the one up the road at Emmanuel church where they read bible stories to children and make them drink cow's milk. Mummy was not impressed. |

And a new favourite game.. I like to play a version of peekaboo. If I find myself in possession of a blanket or the edge of a throw, I pull it over my head and wait for mummy to say 'Where is that baby? Where's she gone?' 'Scott, have you seen the baby?' 'Alex? Where are you?' THEN, the best part, is when I reveal myself, and giggle like a loon because mummy looks all relieved and says 'THERE she is!'. Sometimes she scoops me up to kiss me then, but I turn my head away because I'm all bashful.
Other things I like to do are:
Taking my socks off and holding them aloft for mummy and daddy to see Turning the pages of my board books (especially the one with the hairy kitten in it) and warbling, then when mummy says anything to me I hold it up for her to see. Waving bye-bye when I'm going out of the room, or when mummy or daddy leave the room I'm in. I love doing this because they make a big fuss of me for it. splashing the bath water with my hands Stopping eating to have a bit of drink, every couple of mouthfuls. I like that I don't have to tell mummy or daddy what I mean in proper words, just struggle a bit and gesture at my bottle. Getting on all fours in my sleep, then waking myself up trying to lie back down, so mummy has to come and sort me out twisting pieces of mummy's hair in my hand and rubbing it against my closed eyes, that feels really nice when I'm tired. stuffing my dummy (or anything else that is to hand) into people's mouths, then grinning as I pull it back out
I don't like dummies anymore. They're for babies. I'm a big girl. I only have my dummy when I'm going to sleep at night. If anyone tries to give it to me in the daytime I spit it right back out, or try to stuff it into their mouths instead. |

First of all, mummy tried to feed me that lentil muck for lunch again. I've told her twice before I don't like it. I don't care if she has a freezer full of it, it's her own fault for making too much. I have to say though, my selection of foods has included some wonderful new things since she bought that Annabel Karmel book, so I'll let her off.
Then.. I rolled over and over and fell off mummy's bed in the three seconds that she wasn't watching. I'm alright now, just a bit bruised. I cried a lot but mummy and daddy both made a big fuss of me and I soon felt better.

Yep, I've been on the outside as long as I was on the inside. I'm getting really grown-up now, and although I can't crawl or walk, I get to anywhere I want to go without any help, just by rolling and tumbling and dragging myself. I've noticed mummy keeps moving interesting looking things out of my reach though. Makes me sooo cross! I have a whole range of Alex-specific language, some of which mummy and daddy seem to understand, some they don't. When mummy asked me if I wanted a drink the other day I nearly managed to say it.. 'nink' is the closest I could get. Most of the time though, I just babble away to myself and my toys. My favourite toy is something I change my mind about on a very regular basis, but lately I've been terribly fond of three Sesame Street beanie characters: Ernie, Cookie Monster and Big Bird.
Some recent pictures to show you, then:
Me this morning, playing on the floor. I've lost all interest in staying on a boring playmat when there's exploring to do! ( more.. ) |

Am I looking thin to you?

I had a check with my Health Visitor the other week, and it turns out that what with one thing and another, mostly because I'm allergic to eggs and cows' milk, I have put on only half an ounce since December. That isn't good. Mummy isn't entirely sure Gill's scales weren't broken, because I've definitely got bigger, maybe I'm just longer not bigger all over. Anyway mummy and daddy are seriously fattening me up now. Four times a day they stuff food into my head until I just can't and won't eat any more. And we've discovered goats' milk doesn't make me sick - hooray!
I'm getting sophisticated (well, compared to how I used to be anyway). I can sit up and play with things all by myself, and I can reach most things that have been left on the floor by a combination of rolling and stretching and tumbling so watch where you put that cup of tea! I have developed quite an attachment to the remote control for the television. It has *buttons* - brightly coloured squishy *buttons*, and I just want to gum it ferociously. Of course, playing with the remote has the added advantage of changing the channel or the volume when mummy or daddy want to watch something, so they have to pay more attention to MEEE hahahaha! Only one thing has the edge on remote controls lately, and that is *shoes*.. mmmm shoes. Any kind of shoes. If you leave a shoe of any description near me I'll get it and inspect it from all angles, then shake it excitedly and have a chat to it.
Oh, and I made Daddy take me to the shop to get mummy a card when it was mothers' day, and sent a drawing to my Nana. And I regularly say 'Daddy', and 'Hiya' nowadays. Maybe I ought to update this thing more often, eh? |

I can stay sitting up on my own now, and mummy and daddy have to watch me when they put me on the floor or I roll all over the place and scrape up bits of fluff and stuff off the floor to stuff in my mouth. Mummy and I were out when the HV called for my 7 month check, so she reorganised it for the 31st March, when I'll be over 8 months old. Oh well.
We have managed to successfully isolate my allergies and stop my eczema. I have normal baby skin these days as long as you keep me well away from:
Polyester: this is a pain as most of the nicest baby blankets, jumpers and coats are made from pure polyester fleece. Also the lining on nice warm tracksuits. It's not quite as much of a pain, though, as...
Lactose: Yep. Violently allergic to dairy produce. Experiments have happened with whole milk on cereal, fromage frais, yoghurt, cheese, and baby formula based on cow's milk - and they all ended in exorcist style projectile vomiting. Most unpleasant. I won't drink soy based formula either, because it tastes like bums. So the only calcium I'm getting is from rusks for breakfast soaked in Provamel soya milk. I'm getting a drink of juice down me with each meal no fussing now, which is nice. And I'm getting extra protein from mummy and daddy adding meat to my diet.
To lighten the mood here's a recent pic of me and mummy:
